    FAQs

Depending on your circumstances, it’s important to select the right filtered water bottle based on its capabilities.

The SURVIVOR™ bottle can filter water from just about any freshwater source—that means right out of a lake, river or rainwater catch! Its powerful filtration capabilities make it a popular option for hikers and campers, as well as those put into rugged or disparate situations.

The AquaBuddy™ utilizes three patented technologies to deliver the cleanest, healthiest water possible on-the-go. This includes an Aquaspace® Compound filter, an Aqua ION™ Compound filter and AQUATOMIC® Hydrating Magnets. It can filter water from any tap or fountain.

Many conventional water bottles are made with polycarbonate plastics, which may contain Bisphenol A (BPA)—a chemical known to mimic estrogen, which can have adverse effects on the body’s hormone levels.

All Aquaspace® filtered water bottles are BPA- and Phthalate-free, which means they’re completely safe for everyday use. Our AquaBuddy™ and AQUATOMIC® water bottles both include hydrating magnets, used to decluster water and make it more bioavailable to your body. These neodymium super magnets are completely safe for humans.

Life Straws are popular with outdoor enthusiasts—particularly hikers and campers who may be far from a safe or reliable water source for days or weeks at a time. A Life Straw uses a hollow fiber membrane to trap contaminants such as parasites and bacteria in its microscopic pores. Water passes through the 0.2-micron pores, while larger microorganisms are trapped before they can enter the body. As a result, a Life Straw is effective for filtering parasites and other microorganisms… but not much else.

Aquaspace® filtered water bottles—particularly the Survivor™ Water Bottle—also use a hollow fiber membrane to remove microorganisms from contaminated water. This effectively removes 99.99% of bacteria, parasites and cysts. Where Aquaspace® bottles go above and beyond is in their chemical reduction capabilities, made possible through the inclusion of the Aquaspace® Compound filter. This compound also removes lead, chlorine, herbicides, pesticides, VOCs and other organic and inorganic chemicals. It’s a more complete filtration solution for cleaner, healthier water on-the-go.

Each Aquaspace® water bottle has a different filtering standard, which means each has its own filter media replacement requirements. Here’s a look at the rating for each filtered water bottle:

SURVIVOR™: The filter lasts for 45 Gallons/170 Liters or approximately 3 months of regular use. The water bottle fits 20oz. of water and can be refilled 288 times.
AquaBuddy™: The filter lasts for 45 Gallons/170 Liters or approximately 3 months of regular use. The water bottle fits 20oz. of water and can be refilled 288 times.
AQUATOMIC®: Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) Magnets will last the life of the stainless-steel water bottle and insulated carry bag. No replacement required.
Additionally, it’s a smart idea to clean your filtered water bottle regularly after use. All Aquaspace® bottles can be hand-washed with warm, soapy water.

Absolutely! It’s very easy to justify the cost of a filtered water bottle from both a monetary standpoint and a health benefits standpoint.

You can’t put a price on your health. When it comes to nourishing your body, the single most important thing you can put in it is clean, safe, healthy water. When you’re on-the-go or in a place where the quality of the water may be suspect or unproven, a filtered water bottle is an instant solution to safe, clean drinking water—whether you’re hiking in the mountains or in the middle of a disaster situation. This alone is enough to justify the cost of a filtered water bottle for most people.

For those who prefer a cost-benefit analysis in actual dollars, it’s very easy to see the return-on-investment (ROI) of a filtered water bottle over traditional bottled water. Take, for example, the AquaBuddy™ filtered water bottle, which costs $59.95. The annual cost of ownership for this bottle is roughly $80—the cost of a year supply of replacement filter cartridges (180 gallons). Compare that to $900 for a year supply of bottled alkaline water at $5 per gallon! The cost of conventional water bottles is orders of magnitude more expensive—not to mention more wasteful when you consider the plastic.

The Survivor can be used on any municipal or well water system. Water from faucets, taps, spigots, or fountains from residential or public facilities is ok to use. In addition, the Survivor can be used on naturally occurring sources of water such as a stream, river, lake, pond, spring, or other source of water.

The Survivor is not meant for salt or brackish water. It is also not intended for use with hot water, or anything other than water. When using from a stream, river, or lake, ensure that no large particles of sediment are present in the water as this can cause the filter to clog prematurely. Depending on the quality of source water, and the amount of particulate or contaminates in it, the filter may last less than the 45 gallon limit. The worse the water is that you put in, the harder the filter will have to work to clean it. Running water is better for use than stagnant water.

The filter lasts for 45 Gallons/170 Liters or approximately 3 months of regular use. The water bottle fits 20oz. of water and can be refilled 288 times.

The Survivor Water Bottle may be hand washed with warm, soapy water. The Survivor filter does not need to be cleaned and will last for 45 gallons. The filter is designed to remove microscopic contaminants, not larger particles or sediment. Although the filter will remove sediment including rocks, sand, or dirt, it may cause the filter to clog prematurely. In addition, the filter and bottle should not be put in the microwave, dishwasher, or freezer.

The Survivor Bottle Filter has been designed with a comfortable flow rate while also allowing for the optimum contact time needed for proper filtration. Simply invert the bottle and gently squeeze to push the water through the filter as you would with any other sports bottle.

UV light attacks microorganisms and harmful bacteria at their genetic core, altering their DNA, and eliminating their ability to reproduce, thus leaving them harmless. UV lights are highly effective at eliminating 99.99% of microorganism, or bacteria parasites and cysts.

Life Straw uses a Hollow Fiber Membrane to trap contaminants such as parasites and bacteria in its microscopic pores. Water is able to pass through the 0.2 micron sized pores, while larger microorganisms are not.

The Survivor Water Bottle similarly uses a Hollow Fiber Membrane to remove microorganisms from contaminated water; effectively removing 99.99% of bacteria, parasites, and cysts. In addition to microbial reduction, the Survivor adds chemical reduction through the inclusion of our Aquaspace® Compound. This compound will additionally remove lead, chlorine, herbicides, pesticides, VOCs and other organic and inorganic chemicals.
